My attempt yesterday to photograph smoke was unsuccessful but with a little help from
Michael (aka Fort Photo) and the
Artsmoke Flickr Group I can now say I've done it. Still some work to do on my end but all in all I liked the results I got tonight and look forward to playing with it by using colored filters and some post work.

This is pretty groovy, sweetie.
This looks like a woman,
her right arm is at the top right of the screen starts at her wrist and you can clearly see elbow. The torso in the middle and the legs below. To the left of the torso you see the flowing hair. The left arm extends from the torso towards the right arm with the elbow bent.
What was interesting with the smoke photography was the shapes it produced. The night I did this one I did it in complete darkness and used a flash and just hit the shutter release when the flash was ready. The next days I did with a small light on so I could see the smoke and find I liked the shapes I captured better when I wasn't reacting. The next time will be in complete darkness again. :)
