Interesting take on the bokeh theme. Usually I see these taken wide open, whereas you were stopped down. What aperture was this, out of curiosity? I think it's more interesting than just circles of light.

It may be a bit disappointing to know what it is exactly but here goes.

This is a string of colored Christmas lights reflecting off a piece of cardboard covered with reflective tape. I shot at an angle and intentionally out of focus. I was looking to reproduce the out the car window on a rainy night look.

The settings are 50mm, f/8.0, 0.125 sec (1/8).

I must interject about your comment, Rob - that it might be disappointing to know these were Christmas lights, and you used cardboard & reflective tape. Your use of found objects and materials and the results you are producing are creative and unique.

The photograph you produced here (and others -- I have the pleasure of seeing all the photos you DON'T post) using such common items goes well beyond just trotting out to the beach and taking pictures of a wave or two - how many times has THAT been done?

As far as thinking outside *the* "box" or even *your* "box" -- heh. There is no box. There is no spoon.
