Day 129 of 365
Took so many photos today so it was hard picking which one to post. I choose this one because of its minimalist qualities. I did post a few other photos of full kites on my Flickr if you'd like to see. I shot with a circular polarizer which helped with the blue sky.
I took these at the Marina International Festival of the Winds. This was the first year I've attended the festival and figure it will be the last. Not much to see and it was mostly out of control kids running around with kites so you're having to duck and weave as kite strings come your way. Lots of wind...not many cool kites. It looked fun for the kids and there were lots of families so that's good.
Earlier in the day I walked around Carmel-by-the-Sea looking for the Weston photography gallery and ended up finding another photography gallery I had looked for a while back and could never find. It had moved from the location I had the address for but happened on it today. This place is the Photography West Gallery and there I saw some photos that aren't camera photos by Carol Henry. Talk about some beautiful flower photos.

I don't know how more can I praise your photos. Honestly.
Minimalistic, well composed, awesome colors..
*sigh* There are AT LEAST 236 more days of praise. I really need to find new words to describe how much I enjoy your photos :)
Thank you so much Ilan!
Well...I'm going to say that I doubt that I'll post a great, or even a good shot every day for the next 236 days. Looking back at the last 129 days I really only feel I've posted a handful of what I consider great shots with another handful of good shots with a majority being "I have to post something so here goes" shots. :)
Strange I went and photographed Kites today, as a rehearsal for the Pelican Park, Kite Festival Next Weekend, didn't use a polariser but don't recall problems with the sky, except for two sun spots from normal movement too close to the sun. Like you minimalism, don't think my nature will permit that.
Main reason I'm commenting here is a subtle connection of personality. Some months ago I committed myself to making, flying and photographing a new kite design every single month. Currently about halfway through a 3rd series of 8 different kite designs! My kite photos are strictly illustrative though.
Don't give up on kite festivals! They are so dependent on wind conditions - perhaps the wind was too strong for all the really great kites that day you went. We saw some great kites in 2008 at the Adelaide International Kite Festival, in South Australia.
Nice composition and color. I like the minimalist take on this.
You hit it out of the park with this one. Everything about it is beautiful.
Just beautiful! I like everything about this picture.
